Israel weighs response after Iran fires missile barrage

Israel has vowed to respond to Iran's attack on Saturday and is considering its next steps.

Tehran launched more than 300 missiles and drones at Israel, in what it said was retaliation for a strike on its consulate in Syria.

The US says Iran did not issue warnings to the White House about its timeframe for launching an attack.

The UK, along with the US, France, and Jordan, helped down the missiles and drones fired at Israel.

Israel is facing growing pressure from allies to show restraint and avoid an escalation of conflict in the Middle East as it considers how to respond to Iran's weekend missile and drone attacks.

A government source told the BBC that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu summoned his war cabinet for the second time in less than 24 hours.

Two top officials signalled on Sunday that retaliation was not imminent and Israel would not act alone.

The results of Monday's talks are not yet known.

Israel has vowed to exact a price from Iran after an unprecedented large-scale attack over the weekend that escalated regional tensions stoked by the war in Gaza.
