Jamaican facing tourism setbacks arising from Trump's policies

Minister of State for Tourism Delano Seiveright

The Ministry of Tourism has admitted that there are jitters in the industry due to the tough immigration policy of the Trump administration and the likely impact on American visitors to the island.

Senator Delano Seiveright, Minister of State in the Tourism Ministry, says potential visitors who are US Green Card holders are hesitant to travel outside the US and local hotels are seeing cancellations and less bookings as a result.

Accordingly, he says stakeholders have expressed concern about the potential downturn in visitor arrivals this year.
