Despite a slight improvement, the Jamaican passport remains behind other countries in the Caribbean in the ranking of the most powerful travel documents in 2024, according to the Henley & Partners Passport Index 2024.
The Jamaican passport is ranked 60 this year in the world's most powerful travel documents, an improvement from 63 last year.
Jamaican passport holders enjoy visa-free access to 90 travel destinations globally.
According to the Henley & Partners report, Barbados is the Caribbean country with the most powerful passport, ranked globally at 22.
This gives holders of a Barbados passport visa free access to 165 of 194 travel destinations globally.
The Bahamas is ranked second in the Caribbean at 24, followed by St Kitts & Nevis and St Vincent & The Grenadines, both ranked 25.
Next on the list of Caribbean countries is Antigua & Barbuda at 27, followed by Trinidad & Tobago at 29.
Grenada and St Lucia are both ranked 32 while Dominica is ranked at 34.
For the last five years Singapore and Japan have boasted the world's most powerful travel documents, granting their citizens access to more countries without a prior visa than anyone else.
But four European countries have moved up to share the top spot on the Henley Passport Index 2024 with those Asian nations.
Residents of France, Germany, Italy, and Spain now have visa-free access to 194 of 227 destinations, three more than last year.
South Korea, Sweden, and Finland all climbed one spot to take joint second place, with access to 193 locations.
Austria, Denmark, Ireland, and The Netherlands shared third place, allowing visa free travel to 192 places.
The U.K. ranks joint fourth with access to 191 destinations, while the U.S. retained joint seventh place with visa free access to 188 destinations.
