The Jamaica Constabulary Force says its intensified fight against the illicit drug trade has dealt a major blow to organized crime networks.
This declaration follows the seizure of more than two tonnes of cocaine during a three-day operation at Kingston Freeport Terminal. Eight people are now in police custody as investigations continue.
The operation, conducted from August 5 to 7, involved the JCF's Firearms & Narcotics Investigation Division and the Jamaica Customs Agency, with support from the Specialised Operations Branch.
On August 5, investigators seized 1017 kilograms of cocaine, contained in 885 parcels, from a shipment destined for Spain.
The cocaine has an estimated local street value of J$610.2 million while its estimated value on the European market is approximately J$11.17 billion.
The following day, another 932 kilograms of cocaine, packed in 825 parcels, were found concealed in a container also bound for Spain.
That shipment is valued in Jamaica at approximately J$559.2 million and an estimated J$10.24 billion on the European market.
Then, on August 7, police found another 118.4 kilograms of cocaine, along with 256 pounds of ganja, hidden in a container destined for Florida in the United States.
The cocaine is valued in Jamaica at approximately J$71 million and an estimated J$562.4 million in the United States.
The JCF says the seizures form part of its aggressive counternarcotics strategy.
Since the start of 2026, the Force says it has removed more than 7,226 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately J$4.3 billion from circulation.
The police say high-level investigations, forensic examinations and joint international operations will intensify in the coming days as they work with local and international law-enforcement partners to dismantle the criminal syndicates behind the shipments.
