JDF locates body of boy who drowned on New Year's Day

The Jamaica Defence Force has confirmed that the body of the 13 year-old boy who drowned at Hellshire Beach in St Catherine on New Year's Day has been found.

The JDF said the body was found on Saturday by its Maritime Air and Cyber Command Unit and was later handed over  to the Marine Police.

The search continues for Police Constable Shamar Grant who is also feared dead.

On January  1 the JDF was called to assist in the search of the Hellshire area for multiple persons who were believed to have drowned.

The JDF said it was continuing the search for the missing constable.

It was reported that Constable Grant of the Portmore Operations Banch of the Jamaica Constabulary Force was        attempting to rescue the 13 year-old boy and the boy's sister when he encountered difficulties in the water.

The woman was eventually pulled from the sea, but she  later died in hospital.
