The political tit for tat continues with the Jamaica Labour Party pressing for resignations amid the ongoing probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds in the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC).

Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley first called for People's National Party General Secretary Dr. Dayton Campbell to resign from the Electoral Commission of Jamaica after publication of an alleged leaked conversation between himself and ousted PNP caretaker, Lawrence Rowe.

However, Dr. Campbell has indicated that he is not a member of the KSAMC and is not involved in how funds are allocated by that body.

But during a press conference on Thursday morning, Marlon Morgan, a senior member of the JLP Communication Task Force, reiterated the call for the "immediate resignation" of Dr. Campbell as a Commissioner of the ECJ as well as from his position as Opposition Spokesman on Agriculture and Fisheries and PNP general secretary.

Mr. Morgan also called for Mayor of Kingston Andrew Swaby to step down.

"We demand that the Mayor of Kingston, who is also the Chairman of the KSAMC, specifically respond to assertions in the public domain that a KSAMC official was in Central Kingston in December 2024, issuing money to influential PNP activists. If Mayor Andrew Swaby cannot, within 24 hours, provide adequate, credible and definitive clarity concerning this specific matter, he too must resign," he declared.

The JLP spokesman argued that Mayor Swaby's response to the allegations that surfaced last week was inadequate.

Mr. Morgan also criticised Opposition Leader Mark Golding over his week-long silence on the matter.
