The widespread jubilation at Sunday's 67th annual conference of the governing Jamaica Labour Party at the National Arena on Sunday was marred by the death of Terry Brooks otherwise called "Bruce" of Exchange in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.
According to reports, Mr. Brooks, who was said to be in his late twenties, died after falling from a bus transporting JLP supporters to the conference.
About 11:30a.m., the bus was negotiating Seymour Avenue near Old Hope Road when persons aboard alerted the driver that Mr. Brooks had fallen from the vehicle.
Passengers ran to assist him and he was rushed to hospital with multiple injuries to the upper body.
Mr. Brooks succumbed to his injuries more than an hour later.
He was a supporter of Shahine Robinson, former Member of Parliament for North East St. Ann.
The driver was taken into custody at the nearby Stadium Police and questioned.
He was later warned for prosecution and the bus was also seized.
