The roadway leading into Kingston, in the vicinity of Broadgate, at the eastern end of the Junction main road in St. Mary, is now impassable due to a major landslide.
The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall early Tuesday morning, caused a large tree to fall across the roadway, completely blocking the main thoroughfare and preventing vehicular traffic.
In St. Thomas, the Hordley Crossing is impassable due to flooding from overnight rain, compounded by heavy rainfall over the weekend.
The worsening condition has brought traffic from Rowlandsfield, Wheelersfield, Golden Grove and Amity Hall to a standstill.
The police are advising motorists, particularly drivers of small vehicles, to avoid the area until the floodwaters have subsided.
A trough across the Central Caribbean has been producing unstable weather across the island.
