Judge Ruth Lawrence
Justice Minister Delroy Chuck has expressed sympathy to the judiciary and the wider legal fraternity on the passing of parish court judge for Trelawny, Ruth Lawrence.
The judge is suspected to have ingested poison at her home in Coral Springs Village, Trelawny.
The 59-year-old jurist was reportedly transported to Falmouth Hospital by her spouse where she was pronounced dead.
In a release, Mr. Chuck said Justice Lawrence was widely respected for her diligence, integrity and her ability to balance firmness with empathy.
He said he joins with the judiciary, her colleagues and all Jamaicans in mourning the loss of this outstanding jurist while celebrating her sterling contribution to the strengthening of family and children's justice.
