The St. Andrew South Police have charged a licensed firearm holder in connection with a shooting incident on a bus along Mandela Highway in the vicinity of the Six Mile Bridge on February 17, in which a forklift operator was seriously wounded.

Peter Campbell, a 57-year-old driver employed to Decs Management and Logistics Services, is charged with wounding with intent and using a firearm to commit a felony.

Investigators had reported that Mr. Campbell, who was contracted to pick up and drop off workers employed to Decs Management, was involved in a dispute with a forklift operator.

The forklift operator reportedly fell asleep and missed his stop in Portmore, St. Catherine.

Realising he was back on Spanish Town Road, the forklift operator reportedly urged Mr. Campbell to turn the vehicle around, but the driver allegedly refused.

This led to an altercation which escalated when Mr. Campbell pulled his licensed firearm and opened fire on the forklift operator.

The operator sustained bullet wounds to the head and upper body.

Mr. Campbell, who claims he was attacked with an object and was acting in self-defence, is represented by attorney Peter Champagnie, KC.
