Longville Park residents concerned about recent armed robberies

A Clarendon community which attracted scores of residents due to its reputation as being crime free, has become the target of armed robberies in recent weeks.

The attacks which take place in the wee hours of the morning have left residents of Longville Park cowering in fear as the hoodlums have not only broken into their homes, but have reportedly sent death threats to members of the security forces who reside in the community.

The latest incident occurred last Wednesday morning when gunmen broke into the home of a member of the security forces and removed his licensed firearm from under his pillow while he slept.

The robbers then left a note which indicated their unhappiness with increased security measures put in place by residents.

A resident who spoke to the RJR Newscentre described the incident.

“(On) Both of the occasions the people didn’t know persons were in the houses…..it has gone bad in terms of what happens on Longville Road, this place used to be crime free”  said the resident.
