Man fatally shot by police, two illegal guns seized in St. Mary incidents

 
A man was fatally shot and two illegal firearms seized during separate incidents along the Jack's River main road in Oracabessa, St. Mary on Monday.
 
The two men were taken into custody in relation to the seizures. 
 
The police have not yet released the name of the deceased.
 
The first incident occurred about 8:30 p.m. during a routine patrol, when two men travelling on a motorcycle were signalled to stop. 
 
During the officers' approach, one of the men reportedly brandished a firearm and appointed it in their direction. 
 
The officers took evasive action and discharged four rounds, hitting one of the men. He was pronounced dead at hospital. 
 
A firearm was recovered from the scene and the other man arrested. 
 
The second firearm was seized about 11:15 p.m. during a vehicle checkpoint operation in response to the earlier incident.
 
A white Toyota Crown motor car was intercepted and searched. 
 
The police say a 9mm pistol affixed with a magazine containing nine cartridges was found in the driver's door pocket.
 
The driver was taken into custody and the motor vehicle seized.
