A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to the theft of batteries and cables from telecommunications provider Digicel.
Erick Robinson appeared before the St. Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday where he faced charges of malicious destruction of property, simple larceny and trespassing on the works of a telecommunications facility.
In delivering the ruling, the presiding judge noted that Robinson was not eligible for the up to 50 per cent discount on sentencing due to a previous conviction.
He was subsequently sentenced to 18 months on each count. The sentences are to run at the same time.
The police arrested Robinson after Digicel reported the theft of batteries and cables in June.
