One of the prisoners who escaped from the Mandeville police lock-up on Tuesday [June 14] has been killed.
Another three are back in police custody.
Barrington Phinn, who was wanted for murder, was shot by the police on Wednesday morning [June 15].
According to reports Phinn was shot by the Newport Police in Manchester about 11 o'clock.
The police say a homemade shotgun was seized in the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting are now being probed by the Bureau of Special Investigations.
The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
Three of the prisoners were recaptured in Manchester between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
The latest to be placed back in custody is Leroy Howell.
He turned himself in to detectives at the Mandeville Police Station on Wednesday morning, accompanied by a pastor.
He was in custody for breaking and entering.
Also back behind bars are Jason Smith, who was apprehended in Christiana and Moses Salmon, who was captured on Ward Avenue in Mandeville.
Smith was arrested for simple larceny while Salmon was in custody for breaking and entering.
Seven other prisoners remain at large.
The 11 prisoners escaped from the overcrowded lock-up early Tuesday morning.
