Opposition Spokesman on Transport and Member of Parliament for Manchester North Western, Mikael Phillips, wants the roadways leading to the Mandeville town centre rehabilitated and road fixtures installed.

Mr. Phillips told Radio Jamaica News that these are imperative due to the significant increase in the volume of traffic leading to the town centre following recent traffic changes.

He said warning signs and mirrors should be installed to avoid motor vehicle mishaps, especially for non-residents.

"I would appeal to the government itself to look at what we would term municipal council roads, like in that Marshall's Pen area, in the Brumalia area, those areas that persons now traverse to bypass Caledonia Road and the town itself, that there is some look at the upgrade of those road surfaces."

He said these roads are riddled with potholes and need additional debushing as well as widening of some verges.

The MP also cautioned motorists against blaring music and unnecessary noise from heavy units as they re-route through residential communities.
