Murder accused taken into custody following US deportation

A man who fled Jamaica while on bail for murder was arrested at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Thursday after being deported from the United States.

He is 24-year-old Rajay Reid, of Old Harbour Road in St. Catherine.

The police say Reid was among 61 deportees on a chartered flight which arrived from Alexandria, Louisiana about 11:55 a.m.

Upon arrival, Reid was handed over to law enforcement personnel for further processing.

He was the only deportee to be detained.

In addition to being charged with murder, Reid will also face charges of absconding bail and breaching his bail conditions.
