NCB, BNS continue to dominate banking sector

New data from the Bank of Jamaica (under Section 64F of the Banking Services Act) shows that the sector continues to be dominated by National Commercial Bank Jamaica and Bank of Nova Scotia Jamaica.
 
As of June 30, the sector's assets $2.71 trillion;  about 76 per cent of projected GDP.
 
NCB accounted for $958 billion, BNS for $680 billion, and JN Bank, $285 billion.
 
The sector's loan book stood at $1.3 trillion, just 48 per cent of total assets.
 
Of that, NCB accounted for $452 billion, BNS, $317 billion, and JN Bank $160 billion.
