The National Parent-Teacher Association of Jamaica (NPTAJ) is calling for Transport Minister Daryl Vaz to allow it to have some input on the proposal for the operation of the rural school bus programme prior to the Cabinet submission on Monday.

Following Monday's tragic crash in Clarendon in which two students died, Minister Vaz said the proposal has been completed and will be taken to Cabinet for discussion.

But president of the NPTAJ, Stewart Jacobs, says the association has been appealing for all stakeholders to be involved in the planning process for a school bus programme.

He is seeking a meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness, Mr. Vaz and Education Minister Dr. Dana Morris Dixon to discuss the issue.

Speaking Wednesday on the Morning Agenda on Power 106, Mr. Jacobs requested that the NPTAJ view the proposal document before the Cabinet submission:

"I would like if before Monday we could have...a glipse of the policy document... It's not adversarial. It's not to chastise or to put it down, but...to add some value to it," he proposed, adding that the NPTAJ should be included in the process as major stakeholders.
