NWA clearing roads blocked by landslides in St Thomas

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw

Teams from the National Works Agency (NWA) are clearing roads that have been blocked by landslides in St Thomas.

The affected roads are Bath to Bath Fountain and Pleasant Hill.

NWA Communication Manager Stephen Shaw says both roads will be re-opened today.

He says sections of St Thomas and Eastern Portland were also flooded.

Mr Shaw says the NWA will be giving attention to drains in those areas, admitting that there are "issues" connected to them.

"We have some drains that would have been overwhelmed by the storm water flows," he said, adding that "cleaning and clearing will have to be done in multiple locations where this has happened, and that will come over the next several days as we continue to assess and respond."
