The National Water Commission (NWC) has embarked on a multi-billion dollar project to replace leaky water mains across the Corporate Area.
NWC President Mark Barnett told RJR News that the utility company has been losing millions of dollars in revenue as a result of leaking and damaged pipelines.
He highlighted two trunk mains – one from Spanish Town Road to Glenmore Road (off South Camp Road) and the other from Stanton Terrace to Marescaux Road – as the ones that will receive priority attention in 2017.
“Those are two major trunk mains that carry a lot of the water that serves most of the city,” he explained.
Replacing the two mains will cost in excess of US$25 million, he revealed.
