October 7 declared National Anti-Bullying Day

Laurette Adams-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA

October 7 has been designated National Anti-Bullying Day following a proclamation signed by Governor General Sir Patrick Allen.

The Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) says the designation is a landmark step to advance the national child protection agenda and reinforces the country's collective resolve to confront bullying in all its forms.

The declaration followed a formal request by the CPFSA with the endorsement of the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information.

Laurette Adams-Thomas, Chief Executive Officer of the CPFSA, has hailed the proclamation as a defining moment for Jamaica's children.

"This is more than just a symbolic day. It is a national call to action. Every act of bullying leaves scars. Some are visible, some are invisible, but they can last a lifetime. By dedicating a day each year to awareness and action, we are saying clearly and collectively that bullying has no place in our schools, in our communities or in our society," she asserted.
