Person of interest in custody following murder of teen in home invasion

 
Radio Jamaica News has been informed that at least one person has been taken into custody in relation to the murder of a teen during a pre-dawn break-in at her family's home in Smokey Vale, St. Andrew.
 
Eighteen-year-old Jada Pollard was a sixth-form student at the Queen's High School.
 
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. when an intruder broke into the residence and began ransacking the premises. 
 
The student, who was at home with relatives, reportedly exited her room and came face-to-face with the perpetrator, who shot her in the head before fleeing the scene. 
 
She was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. 
 
Superintendent Randy Sweeney, head of the St. Andrew North Police Division, confirmed the incident and is urging anyone with information to contact the police, or the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch at 876-924-1421.
