A bystander says he assisted in freeing a woman who had been trapped in the wreckage.
Councillor for the Petersfield division in Westmoreland, Patrick Forrester, has died in a motor vehicle crash.
The single vehicle accident occurred Wednesday afternoon sometime after 3 o'clock along the Whithorn main road in the parish.
Reports are that the vehicle, which had four people on board, was travelling from the direction of Montego Bay, when it veered off the road and slammed into an unfinished house.
Mr. Forrester died at the scene.
The other occupants of the vehicle are being treated at hospital.
