The St. James police are searching for clues as they probe Wednesday morning's deadly attacks in Barrett Town and neighbouring Barrett Hall in which four persons were killed and another injured.

Deputy Superintendent Gary McKenzie, head of operations for the St. James Police, said no motive has been established for the killings.

"Based on all that we know, there are conflicts with certain factions within the community and so we are looking at the leads and we will investigate to ensure that we find out what are the exact causes of this particular action," said DSP McKenzie, who added that there was an operation earlier today to locate the killers.

Doreen Brown, 59, her son Wade Wheatley and deliveryman Carlton Daley - who police say was visiting the family - were killed in the Barrett Town attack.

A 15 year-old boy was also injured and is in critical condition.

The gunmen then went to the neighbouring community of Barrett Hall, where they killed 35 year old bartender Nordia Cunningham.

Daily operations

Meanwhile, DSP McKenzie said the police have been conducting daily operations in volatile communities in St. James in a bid to stem the bloodshed.

According to the senior cop, there have been successes in crime "hotspots" where special focus was placed.

"But we see other areas that incidents have occurred and that is where we have been looking and we have been making some shifts in terms of our strategies," DSP McKenzie noted.

However, he insisted that the police were not alone in their fight against crime as "all well-thinking citizens within St. James are hell-bent on establishing normal(ity) and that is what we are about."

Almost 120 persons have been murdered in St. James since the start of the year.
