National Security Minister Dr Horace Chang says the police have activated measures to counter the spike in the murder rate since the start of the year.
According to the latest serious crime statistics, published on Sunday, the country recorded 34 murders in the first 11 days of the year.
This is eight more than recorded for the corresponding period last year.
The National Security Minister says the police have the required intelligence to go after the perpetrators.
