The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division (FNID) has seized a record 1,051 illegal firearms since the start of the year.
Some 834 illegal firearms were seized in 2024.
Superintendent Petrae Rowe, head of the FNID, told Radio Jamaica News that this is significant in the Jamaica Constabulary Force's crackdown on illicit weapons, which have flooded the streets, arming criminal gangs.
He said more than 50,000 rounds of ammunition have also been seized by the JCF this year.
