Police seize two guns in St. Ann

By Kimone Witter

Two illegal firearms were on Wednesday seized in separate incidents in St. Ann.

A man who identified himself as a security guard was arrested in the first incident in Brown's Town.

It's reported that about 3:45 p.m., the police, acting on information, went to a beauty salon on the Brown's Town Mall where a man was getting his hair done.

A knapsack was taken from him and searched.

One .38 revolver with two cartridges was found inside.

The man was taken into custody.

In the other incident, about 6 p.m., a man ran leaving a motorcycle and a firearm after he was accosted by a traffic cop along the Ocho Rios Development main road.

Reports are that the policeman was driving his service motorcycle when he saw a man driving a black Yamaha motorcycle with no licence plate affixed.

On reaching the stoplight on Development main road, the policeman drove up to the man, who immediately jumped off the motorcycle and ran making his escape in the neighbouring Buckfield community.

A multi-coloured knapsack which fell from his hand contained one 9 millimetre Glock pistol with a magazine containing seventeen rounds.
