The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) says 1,201 illegal firearms were seized in 2025, representing a landmark year in its ongoing effort to remove weapons from the hands of criminals.

Some 833 illegal firearms were seized in 2024, reflecting a 44 per cent increase in seizures.

The JCF says 586 of the firearms seized were during operations, along with 7,475 rounds of ammunition.

It says this success was due to intensified patrols, targeted operations and enhanced intelligence-led policing.

The Police High Command says it remains committed to sustaining this momentum, continuing rigorous enforcement and strengthening measures to safeguard the people of Jamaica.

Citizens can report guns, gunmen and gangs to Crime Stop Jamaica at 311 or the nearest police station.
