The Jamaica Constabulary Force has issued a stern warning against the reckless and illegal practice of celebratory gunfire during the Christmas season.
The JCF says bullets fired upwards can travel great distances and fall with lethal force, potentially wounding or even killing innocent bystanders.
It says violators will be arrested.
In that regard, Commanding Officer for the Area One police, Assistant Commissioner Glenford Miller has announced that there will be special focus on locations where gun salutes have occurred in the past.
