A serving police officer was among three Trinidadian men arrested during a joint exercise with officials from T&T and the United States on allegations of conspiracy to import cocaine into the US.
They were charged in the Eastern District of New York for conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States and firearms offences stemming from a 2024 Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) investigation.
The three men are being held on provisional arrest warrants awaiting deportation.
Trinidad's Police Commissioner hailed the operation as a reflection of the strength of international partnerships and the police services unwavering commitment to accountability at every level of the organisation.
