Dancehall artiste Popcaan, whose given name is Andre Sutherland, is to return to the St. Thomas Parish Court today (Friday) as he seeks to challenge a charge for breaches of the Noise Abatement Act.
Popcaan was charged in connection with the staging of Unruly Fest in St. Thomas in December last year.
During his first appearance, Mr. Sutherland's lawyer, Matthew Hyatt, said his client is challenging the charge as his name did not appear on the permit for the event.
The judge instructed the crown to investigate whose name was on the permit.
Mr. Sutherland reportedly became abusive after the police were forced to bring Unruly Fest to an end after the promoters exceeded the time for its staging.
He pleaded guilty to using indecent language, disorderly conduct, using abusive and calumnious language and posing a threat to police officers.
He was fined a total $6,000 or $1,500 on each count, following the guilty pleas.
