Employees of the Port Security Corps are now restive and threatening to take legal action against the entity.
They are calling for the Government's intervention due to what they say is the failure of the management to remit statutory deductions and third party payments to financial institutions.
The employees are upset after learning that money deducted from their salaries have not been paid over to financial institutions in some instances from as far back as 2015. The matter has been compounded by reports that the life and health insurance policies of some employees have lapsed due to the non-payment of premiums.
In the meantime, it is understood that the problems plaguing the Port Security Corps have deepened. Faced with mounting rental arrears, the management has decided to relocate the agency from its headquarters at Ocean Boulevard in downtown Kingston to the old Air Jamaica building on Harbour Street.
When contacted a senior employee revealed that Port Security Corps head Colonel Derrick Robinson was out of office on company business.
