The Crown says it is ready for trial in the multi-billion dollar cocaine case in which five men have been implicated.
The court was told that all eighteen witnesses on the indictment are available.
But defendant Aubrey Sterling, who is charged with conspiracy to export cocaine, is unrepresented as his attorney Ludlow Black, is now a judge in another jurisdiction.
Responding to when was the last time he spoke with his attorney, Mr. Sterling told Justice Leighton Pusey that he had tried unsuccessfully to get in touch with Mr. Black.
Noting that the matter is set for trial in November, Justice Pusey told Mr. Sterling that he needs to hire an attorney.
The judge explained that the trial cannot begin if he is unrepresented.
The matter was subsequently adjourned until October 19.
Fifty-seven-year-old Clive Davis, 58-year-old Colin Ricketts, 42-year-old Clayton Peart, 72-year-old Junior Haldane and Aubrey Sterling are charged with possession of, dealing in and trafficking cocaine, as well as conspiracy.
They were arrested last August following the $12 billion drug bust in Havendale, St. Andrew.
