The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica is calling for Jamaicans to support the National Identification System - NIDS.
The Senate on Friday approved five National Identification and Registration Authority Regulations, which will facilitate implementation of NIDS.
PSOJ President Metry Seaga believes the new system will make it easier to do business in the country, nothing that "it's been a long time coming."
"We feel it's going to be very useful for the country; we feel it's going to allow people to utilise services that the government offers much more easily," he said, adding that this initaitive is also "part of us growing up as a country; part of bringing us into the 21st century."
He says he's satisfied that personal information collected under NIDS will be protected
