Public Defender Arlene Harrison Henry has also cautioned against making public statements regarding Ms Fearon's death without having full information.

She argued that doing so would be "less than prudent" if the full tests and reports have not yet been completed.

Deputy Public Defender Herbert McKenzie added that persons should not make pronouncements on the cause of Miss Fearon's death using preliminary reports.

"In most post-mortem, there are usually secondary causes but usually there is a one-liner and it's sometimes not the safest thing to do to act upon that one-liner alone," he said.

Mrs Harrison Henry and Mr. McKenzie were speaking Thursday morning on Radio Jamaica's call in programme, Hotline, with host Emily Shields.

Further tests needed

General Surgeon Dr. Alfred Dawes has said further tests may be needed to determine what caused Jodian Fearon's death.

His comment comes amidst the statement released by the University Hospital of the West Indies Thursday morning, in which it took issue with what it said was the premature release of Miss Fearon's autopsy results.

"I think Dr. Ford is gonna be asked to explain himself based on the allegations he made publicly," Dr. Dawes indicated. "It's difficult to say (the cause of death) at the time of autopsy because you're looking at the organs and the specimens that are removed but you have not examined them under a microscope as yet, you have not done any toxicology test and so on... Any other test, such as toxicology, liver samples and so on, would have to come on board before you can really say this is the definite cause of it," he suggested.
