Residents object to cellular tower

Residents of Patrick Street in Old Harbour, St. Catherine have objected to the construction of a cellular tower in their community.

When RJR News visited the site on Monday it was evident that preparatory work was being done for the erecting of a tower.

The residents say they do not want the structure in the community, because it is too close to a basic school.

They feel there is a possibility that children may come in contact with radiation.

The angry residents in blasting cellular service provider MIPHONE, said to be erecting the tower, said no consultations were done with them before the decision was taken to put it up.

Councillor for the Old Harbour Central division Esworth Frankson also told RJR News the tower was being constructed without the approval of the parish council.
