Sean 'Diddy' Combs gets four-year sentence in prostitution case

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been sentenced to 50 months or more than four years in prison for his conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution.

The sentence was handed down on Friday afternoon at a US district court in New York.

Combs was convicted of flying people across the US for sexual encounters he called "freak-offs", including his girlfriends and male sex workers.

As he sentenced the hip-hop mogul, the judge said the court had seen "massive" amounts of evidence against Combs and a significant sentence was required.

The judge said the sentence is fair to account for the severity of Combs's crimes and the mitigating factors.

Combs earlier told the court his actions were "disgusting, shameful and sick" as he apologised to the victims and his children.
