A man has been confirmed dead in a fire at the Oxford Road Gallery Apartments in St. Andrew.
The man is a 70-year-old resident of the complex.
Senior Superintendent in charge of the Kingston and St. Andrew Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade, Patrick Gooden, told Radio Jamaica News that the fire, which started sometime after 4 a.m., has been extinguished.
Mr. Gooden says two units responded to a fire on the 6th floor of the apartment building.
While battling the blaze, the firefighters were informed that a resident was unaccounted for.
Mr. Gooden says the remains of the man were found in the penthouse section of the building.
The cause of the fire has not been determined.
