A man accused of killing his uncle is to stand trial on September 29.

Forty-three-year-old Samuel 'Peter-John' Waldo, of Brooks Level Road, Stony Hill, St. Andrew, is accused of chopping his uncle, 77-year-old Derrick Lindsay, to death, dismembering the body and setting it ablaze.

The murder occurred at their Stony Hill home, where both men lived with other relatives.

When the matter was called up in the Home Circuit Court on Wednesday, the prosecution said new documents were outstanding.

Additionally, Justice Leighton Pusey told the court that Mr. Waldo was not brought in Wednesday because he was unwell.

Prosecutors say Mr. Lindsay was reportedly last seen alive on June 4, 2022, and a missing person report was then filed by his daughter.

The Gleaner broke the story of the grizzly find after the burnt remains of Mr. Lindsay were discovered two days later in bushes in the Cavaliers community, approximately five miles from his house.

Mr. Waldo reportedly chartered a taxi and travelled with two suitcases loaded with the body parts of his uncle.

Investigators say the taxi operator was questioned and released.

The prosecution believes Mr. Waldo bought $500 worth of gasolene before he was taken to the remote location.

The investigation also found that bleach and other chemicals were used in an attempt to clean the murder scene. However, blood stains were still discovered.
