Several men detained under newly imposed St. Catherine SOE

Several men have been detained in operations in St. Catherine, which is under a State of Public Emergency.

A wanted man was held in Gregory Park, Portmore, within the first hour of the state of emergency, which was declared by Prime Minister Andrew Holness shortly after 8 o'clock this morning. 
 
He was wanted for a murder and shootings.
 
An illegal gun was also seized.
 
Since early this morning, the security forces have also been carrying out operations in search of men behind the flare up of gang violence in Spanish Town.
 
Several people have been killed over the last few weeks.

Checkpoints have been erected across the parish.

Police Commissioner Major General Anthony Anderson said motorists should expect delays as the security forces try to get crime under control.
