Shopkeeper disarms attacker after being wounded in shooting

  
The St. Catherine South Police are probing a shooting incident in which a shopkeeper reportedly disarmed one of his attackers and later handed over the gun to the authorities.
 
The incident occurred in the Gordon Wood community near Old Harbour in the parish. 
 
Reports are that about 10 p.m. on Tuesday, the 40-year-old man was at a shop which he operates in the community when he was pounced upon by two armed men who fired shots, wounding him.
 
During the melee the man reportedly managed to disarm one of the gunmen. 
 
Both gunmen ran from the scene and escaped. 
 
The police were summoned and the man was taken to hospital where he was treated. 
 
The weapon was handed over to the Old Harbour Police.
