Detectives in St. Ann are following strong leads into the murder of a well-known farmer and businessman from Lime Tree Garden in the parish.
The deceased is 51-year-old Hopeton Ferguson, otherwise called 'Jacko' or 'Pretty'.
Police reported that Mr. Ferguson was at his home when he was attacked by unknown assailants and shot.
A resident stumbled on the body and called the Watt Town Police.
When the police arrived, it was observed that the door to his bedroom was kicked open. Mr. Ferguson was seen with what appeared to be two bullet wounds to his back.
He was pronounced dead at hospital.
