St. Elizabeth police vow continued effort to reduce crime

Superintendent Coleridge Minto, head of the St. Elizabeth Police
By Prince Moore

The St. Elizabeth police say several operations will be conducted across the parish this year as it seeks to build on the 29 per cent reduction in major crimes in 2024.

Forty murders were committed in the parish in 2023 compared with 32 last year.

The commanding officer, Superintendent Coleridge Minto, said the police will continue their efforts to reduce criminal activities across the parish.

"Since the start of this year, and in fact over the past 24 hours, I met with all my portfolio officers, zone commanders, station commanders and also Mr. Calvin Allen, Assistant Commissioner in charge of Area Three, as we collectively discuss strategies to address crime and safety concerns for the parish. You will understand that I will not share these plans publicly as many of them are unfolding as we speak. But I wish to assure the people of this parish that the police will remain focused in ensuring that law and order are maintained," he vowed.
