Staff at Greater Portmore High School in St. Catherine are staging a sit-in over the long-standing problem of a stench emanating from the nearby National Water Commission Sewage Treatment Plant.
As a result of the protest, students have been dismissed early.
Principal Ricardo Ross has again come out in support of staff, noting that efforts will be made to accommodate students via online platforms.
"The staff at Greater Portmore High School has reached a point of frustration. We have been lobbying the relevant authorities for quite some time now to address the long-standing issue of the stench coming from our next door neighbour, which is a sewage plant. It makes our work environment difficult.
We can't work, we can't breathe properly," he bemoaned.
Last year at this time, the teachers withdrew their services to protest against the unbearable odour.
The National Water Commission said the odour was due to a cold front and accompanying rainfall.
