Several persons were taken into custody following the seizure of a Uzi submachine gun and several rounds of ammunition in the community of Tawes Pen in St. Catherine on Wednesday.
The gun and ammunition were seized during a police/military operation.
While the operation was in progress a premises was searched and the weapon and five 9 millimetre rounds seized.
A statement from the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN) said one of the men in custody is implicated in a recent murder in the parish.
