One of the main suspects in last week's mass shooting along Text Lane in the vicinity of Charles Street in Kingston, was fatally shot Monday morning during an intelligence-led operation in the Elletson Road area.
The deceased has been identified as Joshua Lawrence, also called 'Southy'.
The incident occurred about 5 o'clock on Maiden Street.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, head of the Area Four Police, says Lawrence was a member of a gang operating in East Kingston.
He was also wanted for murder in that police division.
"This criminal suspect was regarded as a top-tier member and main shooter for the Wellys Kelly gang operating out of Eastern Kingston. It should be noted also that 'Southy' was also wanted by the Kingston Eastern Police in regards to other serious crimes, including the murder of a crown witness in a case before the court, Ms. Lisa Harris, who was killed along Bray Street, Kingston 16 in July of 2025," he disclosed.
ACP Phipps said the remaining suspects are being pursued.
They have been given until Tuesday evening to surrender.
"We know that they know who they are, and we are urging them to report to the police at the Kingston Central CIB, no later than 6 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday 14th of October 2025," the senior officer warned, adding that police will investigations into this and other serious crimes in Area Four.
One of the victims of the October 7 mass shootings, 17-year-old Jabore Campbell died in hospital on Saturday.
He was autistic.
Jabore was among four children wounded in the drive-by incident.
