Dr. Nigel Clarke

A task force has been set up to engage with private security firms that have contracts with the government.
Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke says the task force will hold consultations over the next 100 days with a view to amending all contracts.
The government has more than 500 contracts for the provision of security guard services across ministries, departments and agencies.
Minister Clarke said the task force is expected to negotiate with scores of security guard firms who are counterparties to these contracts for an adjustment to the required rates for service.
He said the amendments will also ensure security guards in service to the government are treated as employees, in keeping with a Supreme Court ruling handed down last September.
The effective date of the new contracts will be April 1, 2023.
