Three alleged members of the Ants Posse Gang were fatally shot during a reported confrontation with the police in Grange Hill, Westmoreland on Wednesday morning.
Their identities have not yet been released.
It's reported that sometime after 7 o'clock a police team went to Mint Road, Crowder, in search of wanted men and guns.
The men reportedly fired at the police and this led to a shootout.
The three men were fatally shot during the operation.
A fourth suspect reportedly escaped.
The police have identified him as Sandario Van Horne, otherwise called 'Drug Lord'.
The police say one 9 millimetre Taurus G2C pistol and one Smith and Wesson 9 millimetre pistol with a magazine affixed containing six rounds were seized during the operation.
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the incident.
