Tourism Ministry welcomes LIAT flights between Montego Bay and Kingston

  

State Minister in the Tourism Ministry Delano Seiveright has welcomed the new service between Montego Bay and Kingston by LIAT Airlines. 

 

He said it will be a game-changer for Jamaica. 

 

LIAT Airlines will launch a new intra-island service next Friday, July 11, operating three times weekly from Sangster International Airport.

 

Mr. Seiveright said the new service is expected to cut travel time between Montego Bay and Kingston from over two hours by car to just 25 minutes by air.

 

"The LIAT service is an excellent addition for Jamaica. It falls in line with our Caribbean airlift growth strategies. We have, of course, made quite a lot of progress with improving accessibility throughout the Caribbean. We have flights inter-Caribbean between Barbados and Jamaica. 

 

"We, of course, have Bahamasair doing non-stop flights between Montego Bay and Nassau, Bahamas. And, of course, we now have LIAT, which has been doing services between Antigua and Kingston, now expanding into Montego Bay. So it's a huge plus for us, and we have seen double-digit growth in our Caribbean numbers coming into the island, and we're very happy about that," he disclosed. 

 

The state minister said the service between Montego Bay and Kingston will be helpful, especially for corporate clients, who have welcomed the development. 

 

He added that the reintroduced service is expected to support growth in tourism, logistics and commerce across the island and the wider Caribbean.
