The trial of 58 year old US citizen, Henry Topin, who is charged with the murder of his estranged wife six years ago, is to resume on July 21 during the Easter Session of the St Elizabeth Circuit Court.
The trial started during the Hillary Session.
The court heard evidence from former St Elizabeth Crime Chief Deputy Superintendent Bruce Higgins who conducted a question and answer session with the accused, which included 130 questions.
Defence Attorney Thomas Levene told Radio Jamaica News that the prosecution is expected to wrap up its case when the trial resumes.
Mr Levene said, based on court management agreements, his client is expected to give sworn evidence.
Mr Topin is charged with the murder of 49 year-old Moylyn William Topin of Seaview St Elizabeth on the morning of February 15, 2019.
It was reported that he rented a vehicle and travelled to St Elizabeth where he entered the bus his wife used to transport children to school.
It's alleged that Mr Topin pulled a firearm and shot his wife during an argument. She was pronounced dead at hospital.
Mr Topin fled the area but was captured hours later while attempting to board a flight back to the United States.
He was also found in possession of his wife's cellular telephone.
Mr Topin has been in custody since February 20, 2019.
His trial is being heard by a judge only as he opted for a bench trial
